Had the top hinge break out of the housing. Looks like I will have to replace the rear door leaf. Has anyone else had this problem. Was there a fix besides replacing the door?
Are you talking about threaded insert at top of door? If so there are aftermarket inserts thru TAC parts and A parts warehouse that are substantially longer might be an option over door replacment ..... I have used them with good results
Slippert that is the part we are talking about on top of the door but this one broke the housing that it goes into down a good 3 inches don't think that that would work on this one just replacing that part.
I have had a local aluminum weld shop weld them back in. last one used aircraft grade aluminum 6' rod and had welded down the inside tube and placed steel threads in the top. $40 weld job was cheaper than a $600 door and even stronger because it is welded all the way around and not just pinched in, also slowing down the door speed so it don't slam open and closed has helped to keep from breaking the upper door puck out. This way he would also weld in a new stud on the bottom to have the correct size bolt at the bottom again. Have not lost a door in 3 years after slowing down the door speed.
sorry, all of mine are air operated and there is two adjustment knobs by the pressure regulator to adjust speed, don't know if there is speed control on the electric doors.
