I have a 2005 C-7 Cat that is hard to start hot. Will start fine when cold. Have installed the check valve in the rear of the head. Fuel pressure is close to 70 psi. Builds close to 20 when turning engine to start.

Can you take a look at the injectors firing hot with the V/C off? You may see an oil leak at one or more...you may not be getting enough high pressure oil to fire.

Cam speed sensors are a fair bet. They don't set fault codes, and typical of an electric component are prone to heat failure.

Don't take this the wrong way, but is it overdue for an oil change?

Had an 02 doing this years ago, the driver was ignoring the service due tag, it was so worn/diluted that then the oil warmed it was too thin to fire the injectors for a restart.

Thanks, I'll check into the last service on this unit. That did cross my mind.

I checked the service and it was close enough so changed oil, still have the same problem. Checked with laptop, so codes at all. One thing I did notice is the oil pressure gauge on the dash sticks after sweep to about 60 psi, but the laptop does read oil pressure.

Well crap, I was hoping it'd be a simple fix.
