We are being told of a warranty update on the newer vision coolant tanks. We need to replace one and apparently they are in short supply due to replacement program. Have we missed something or just out of the loop?

We just replaced 3 tanks on buses less than 6 months on the road. We had no problem getting the new tanks. It is a different design, looks like a bubble instead of the sqaure. Comes with new mounting hardware, brackets, different hose, and clamps. Our Blue Bird dealer had them to us within a couple days of ordering. Who is telling you that they are in short supply?

Our Bluebird dealer. They have two ordered, one will be ours, but will be a week out.

Wow. We did replace one of ours around mid September and replaced the other 2 towards the end of October, so maybe when we ordered our in September, they had a better supply. Just be prepared that it's not a 15 minute job like replacing the square tanks. It's not a hard job, just more time consuming. If you really want to push your luck with them, you could try to get them to pay for lost coolant as well as labor for the job.

If the bus is less than 12 months/12,000 miles, then they should pay you for the labor, no question.

We've had a lot of the squarish tanks go bad on the AARE's, likely the same supplier. By the time they got going with an upgrade some had been replaced twice already. Some leaked right out of the box. You're lucky to get a tank out of BB, little less any collateral items. A very raw deal indeed.

That's why you have to bug and bug and bug some more. We started hitting our Blue Bird dealer for 1/10th of an hour jobs for the silliest little things that were wrong from the factory. We actually received reimbursement checks for 6 minutes of labor.
