I am about to dig into my first maxxforce 7 with a serious bed plate leak. This is the low mileage 2008 with the single turbo. Any experienced techs have any tips or tricks to getting this job done. Ive done my share of vt365 and 6.0 powerstrokes . Is this going to be a similar job? I do know to check the front cover for pitting but other than that these are some mysterious critters as far as pattern failures and problems.

Make sure you find the latest sealing and torque procedures IK1200241 and 1200479 for leak ID'ing. Engine's going to need to come out. There are a couple of different thickness wear sleeves for the rear main...make sure you measure so you don't have to go back.

Thanks for the heads up. Ive seen poor machining in vt bedplates as well and have always done a light coating of sealant on those. Has anyone seen an actual gasket and seal kit for these or do we still have to buy the dozens of parts separate?

Mechani1c do you have the part numbers for the shorter speedie sleeve? Mine is about .020" to wide and the parts dept says there is no narrower sleeve available for that vin number. I might end up machining it if I have to .

Try 1880092C91. I'm trying to find the old case file # for some detail about the problem...When I looked at this part# it shows a seal and a tube of sealant not a sleeve....let me keep looking.

Here's my Nav dealer response:

Tom,

Below is the parts listing that we used on the 2007 emissions MF7 rear main seal replacement.

1835732c1- Gasket, Rear Seal Carrier
1880092C91- Kit, Crankshaft rear Seal
Zip Ties

Mastertech, What parts did you get?

The one I got first was the 1834635c91 which is the standard one used on most all 6.0 and 6.4's. I also just ordered the 1880092c91 which the parts guys swear is not for that engine but Ill put money down that is what I need . It should be here soon.

That last part number was still .010 to wide . I ended up just grinding off enough to clear the adapter. Must have been a batch of monday morning hangover cranks built at the factory.
