First, for me, it would be a Gillig (if they'll go back to making school buses). Then, I would include almost every option included in that list. Here are some options that I'd include for a school bus. (Almost identical to the bus I currently own, but better)
Silver bowling ball caps black floor Cloth seats total bench rear seat mid-engine setup with a horizontally mounted Cummins ISB250 10-speed transmission Tandem live rear axles vinyl padded dashboard digital instrument gages tinted windows black surrounding window trim complete wraparound windshield (like some of the Crown SuperCoaches) modern car-like headlights (the clear plastic ones ya see on cars these days) touchpad-like switches (like the buttons on newer microwaves) AM/FM CD and cassette
I wouldn't really care much for air conditioning, or strobe lights. If Gillig went back into making school buses, this is an example of what I would like it to be.

First, I would make it a Blue Bird International with the following:
Air Ride Air Horn Air Brakes Stobe light TInted windows Manual inward-folding J/K door Four push-out passenger windows Rubrail above rear bumper Mud flaps front/back Two roof hatches Amored cluster lights Heated rearview mirrors Crossing gate Flip-down school Bus sign 3M Diamond Grade reflective side/rear marker 7' clear lens back-up lights Grey rubber floor Acoustic headlining Monitor fro warning, belt line, and tail lights Camera
That's about it!

I agree with all of you. But, I would have to add one thing: a heat pad to keep coffee/tea warm. :)

Bus Boy,
I haven't seen any new Blue Bird around with the lighted bus sing. I know most of our 1980's espcially Pepper's who was a contractor had all the lighted signs on the bus. It really only good in a storm or at night on a trip you could see. During the day when it was cloudy you could see a little light on it but not much.

The features with an asterick next to them are features that I currently have on my 98 Thomas/International Conventional. I would have to have a Thomas bus, I would just want some of the extras on it.

I have seen alot of Blue Birds in my area that have the lighted school bus destination sign. I think they look great. Especially at night!!!!
Yes. Thomas does make the lighted school bus destination sign as well. I have seen those in my area too and they look good.
Most, if not all, of the body manufacturers offer two different school bus lighted destination signs. You can either get them back-lit (this is when the sign looks "pushed" up to the glass) or you can get them lit from the sides or the top or bottom...depending on the body manufacturer (and these signs are a little distance away from the glass).

Hey how about one of those mirrors in the back of the bus like they have on mail-trucks that let you see if anything is behind you.

My 2013 IC has a little hole under the top of the dashboard that blows hot air into a one inch cutout square box that is supposed to direct the air up to my side window. I haven't been able to see out of my side window(or through the door on the other side)all winter.
I think that I would like to be able to see out the windows of my bus-so an option I would like to see on my bus is one of those birds that are painted up over the front side of the bus(you know, the ones who still put vents you can turn to direct the heat). |
