KEY WEST, Fla. — A 17-year-old high school senior was killed en route to a music lesson when the van he was driving swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a school bus.
According to The Miami Herald, Glenn Casselman, a school band member who was to graduate this month, was crushed by the impact of the collision. His mother, Patrice, was driving behind her son when the accident occurred. Her car was struck by Glenn’s van when it ricocheted off the school bus and back into her lane. Patrice suffered minor injuries.
The school bus driver was also injured, but her injuries were not life threatening. The only passenger on the school bus when the accident occurred at 6 p.m. was an adult, who sustained minor injuries.
Police say it will be at least a month before the accident investigation is complete, but that they suspect Glenn was trying to pass another car when he entered the opposing lane of traffic and struck the bus.

That is a tragedy. I wonder if this happened while traveling on US 1. US 1 is a two lane road throughout the Keys, and head on collisions when attempting to pass drivers is nothing new around here.
