Can anyone help with info on wheel pullers? Brands and types... what type of experience you have had with pullers purchased. Thanks, Scott.

No I haven't. But from the picture it looks like it is easy to use and will do the job just fine. I have just received my Hub piloted wheels about two months ago and so-far we have been able to remove them without a puller. I imagine we will have to budget for it in the upcoming budget year.

Hi Brad-

I just came back from the Goodyear Truck shop. Had to get one of mine aligned and I asked the guys there what they use.
They say usually that an old split rim lever is put into one of the holes in the wheel and then when you pry against the brake drum it seems to work. Not always, though. They have had some that they had to heat with an acetylene torch to get them loose from the hub.
The guys there tell me that the aluminum wheels are just the worst. I guess that is something us school bus guys don't have to worry about yet.

We are deciding between two different pullers from Myers Tire. I'm concered how well a puller using the hand holes will work with the two hole wheels. When I get the tool and use it I'll report back to you all. Thanks, Scott.
p.s. Thanks for the Myers Tire recommendation... they have a good web site.

Hi guys, we just got our wheel puller and used it on an older bus (98) that had the original tires on it. The puller worked perfectly, pulling off rusted rims easily.
We bought the Kiene Wheel Grabber that Brad Barker suggested. We purchased it through Myers Tire Supply, $1350, including the Eaton adapter for the rear axle. I would suggest calling Kiene directly for information and for help getting the adapters you need.

What's the web adress? When you say wheel puller you mean pulling tires off the rim or what?

Remove Seized Hub-Piloted Wheels
KIENE Wheel Grabber

Ideal For Servicing F450/550 Dual Wheel Assemblies
Impact Wrench Frees Frozen Wheels
Includes A Set of Pulling Chains & Hub Socket
Quickly removes seized hub-piloted wheels from steering, drive and trailer axles. This problem can be severe in bus and transit fleets and some truck fleets, and also with the truck tire dealer on an intermittent basis. Ideal for servicing F450 and F550 trucks with dual wheels. Works on steel or aluminum wheels and features a compact design. Simply hook the pulling chains into the hand holes, attach the safety hooks to the Wheel Grabber, and center the hub socket on the wheel hub. Using an impact wrench on the forcing screw uniformly tightens the pulling chains until the seized wheel is free.

Note: 84453 Wheel Grabber includes choice of one drive, steer or trailer hub socket, and one set of aluminum wheel pulling chains or steel wheel pulling chains. Specify when ordering. Additional hub sockets and chains sets sold separately.
