Before I go digging without knowing how things work;
I flip on the switch and use the retarder as a normal. When I flip off the switch, I would hear air release under my feet area, outside the cabin. Retarder is then off.
When I flip the switch off now, I dont hear the air release. Retarder works fine, turns off, nothing has changed.
Wanting to understand how this all works.
I'm thinking air solenoid. Is this what I am looking at?
Looks like an old BB. Mine dont have retarders and only have one of those solenoid valves and its the high idle. I guess the other is for the retarder then but id figure it would be closer to the retarder.
I was in the right church, wrong pew. It however was a solenoid like the ones there, just behind me about a foot. It was in fact plugged with dirt. Problem solved, thanks for looking. ;)
