This is very close to me in Southern Illinois. The TD is a great guy that is an the same antique tractor hobby as I am and I talk to him quite a bit. 5 were sent the the hospital, treated and released. The worst injury was 22 stitches to the forearm. They understandably canceled the game that night but they played the next night and won the game! The TD told me that the driver had to be helped out of his seat belt because he was hanging from it and the weight wouldn't let him click it open. Lots of discussion about seatbelts around now. My thoughts are that we may want to look into laminated side glass to keep kids inside the bus and stability control. Although, no one was ejected and the rear axle came loose from the front spring shackle. So, I'm guessing that stability control wouldn't have worked. http://newschannel20.com/news/local/teutopolis-bus-crash-caught-on-camera |
