I have a 2003 IC CE with a dt 466 coming in that I have to do some work to. I haven't had much experience on these engines. On the left side of the engine is a canister that has 2 coolant lines coming out of it that come across the top of the engine and go to the air intake tube above the turbo. There is also a hose coming out of the bottom of it that hooks at the base of the oil dipstick tube. What is this canister? It's leaking where the lid meets the base.

Sure sounds like a crankcase vent system...one of those add-ons. http://www3.donaldson.com/en/engine/crank/index.html Close?

ok, so I believe that's what it is. However, this system seems to be leaking antifreeze out at the canister. Do these systems have coolant in the them or do I have a different issue?

I've never seen one with a coolant circuit but I guess anything is possible.

Pull the dipstick...snotty?

Got it today, and yes it's a crankcase vent. But, it wasn't coolant, it was condensation. Big relief there. Thanks for the help and ideas.

Thank goodness for that! Appreciate the update...it's frustrating when we never get to hear the end result of these things.
