how do u guys get the crank puller or harmonic balancer off do u need to pull the radiator out and put a puller on it or is there another way without removing radiator
I use an otc H.bar puller, otc part # 522. I use a shorter forcing screw. Sometimes have to move the shroud a bit to sneak it out. Make sure you heat the hub to 220f to reinstall, as per the manual. Just slides on.
just to clearify the pulley has three bolts in center does that part stay there or do those come out if they they do there is no hole in dead center for the puller to go threw sry if i am not understanding
really how long does it take to get it at 220 with a heat gun i am not really feelin the tourch method cause i dont want to hurt the sleeve that the seal rides on but it sounds like the heat gun will take a long time to heat up and does the pulley slide right on or do u need to hit it on?
Same with a torch. Use a nice rosebud tip and keep the torch moving and not directly on the pulley. Head it gradually and evenly checking the temp from time to time. It usually slides on easily. Once it got stuck for me. I pulled it the rest of the way on easily with the 3 bolts while it was still warm.
The heat just helps the balancer slide onto the crank without damage to the crank or balancer. As long as you are careful, the method doesn't matter. 220 is 220 :)
I made an attempt at it I used a heat gun got it to 235 went to put it on it went maybe an 8th of an inch and stopped then I was tuff to get it back off is there a trick its tuff cause there is little room wth the radiator there
ok I puller the hood and rad off heated up pulley it went on but need a little assistance from a porta power will little pressure and then it slide right on
