I have a new bus for about 7 months a IC conventional Cummins engine . Last night cross arm wouldn't come out on bumper . I checked for voltage and I seem to have some . Could this be the motor ? I put power to the motor and nothing . It's electric .If the arm is out it should retract and it doesn't do that either .

I could be the motor, relay or wiring inside that box, however if it's only 7 months old, it should be covered under the standard 12 month bumper to bumper warranty.

if you put power and ground directly to the motor and nothing happens, then yes the motor is bad.
Not on IC buses, but on BB Visions we have had 3 motors fail on buses less than a year old.

Do you have a crossing arm cancel switch? On our older IC's we had a mix, some did and some didn't have it.

You should have coming into the crossing arm box, a 12 pos (usually red)live all the time, a ground all the time (usually white) and signal wire (usually blue) that is 12v pos when you want the arm to come out.

Opps, wasn't finished.

So if you have good power, ground and signal coming in, connect power and ground directly to the motor (polarity does not mater)if the motor doesnt work, replace it, if it does work likely the module is bad.
It likely is still warranty, so you may want to check with the dealer if you need parts. Not sure how they do it there, but here they will send you the parts. Save the fuel taking it back to the dealer.
