Ok, let's see if I can pick your guys' brain...I have a 2011 B.B. All American transit bus that keeps burning up the defrost resistor pack. I've replaced the blower motor, which is a dual shaft motor; p/n 08303182. The resistor pack that goes with this motor is p/n 04316295. This resistor pack has been updated to p/n 10024863. The fuses do not blow, 5a on low, 10a on med speeds. I seem to be changing the resistor pack about every 3 months and every time the coil is blue on one half of it. My conclusion is the new pack is not to the same standards as the old one. The new pack has diodes in it where the old one does not. Has anyone come across this? Thanks.

I did a couple more tests and found the diodes are what is burning up on the resistor pack. I tested a new one and they are zener diodes. My question is...what could be burning up these diodes?

My 2011 popped the resistor earlier in the year due to a bad motor...then 2 or 3 subsequent resistors.

Turns out that Blue Bird parts has/had the incorrect part number for the resistor for a certain series of buses. Once we got the right one (whatever it was) the problem went away.

You might have your dealer request Bird parts to look into it.

Thanks, do you happen to have the part number of the resistor that works?

I'll check the books for you later today, but I'll be honest, we got several ones (different part numbers) during the ordeal and I can't guarantee what's written down is the correct one.

ON my 2013 I had the resistor blow out twice and they gave me part
# 10024862 in place of the #10024863

It hasn't bothered for quite some time now.

It's been longer now that it seems...over a year ago.

I'm showing 10024863 was the first they sent, which failed. That was the part number Blue Bird parts system incorrectly called for.

Unfortunately, no number was recorded on what was the last installed which has been fine ever since.

Thanks! I'll pass this info on to my boss so he can get the correct part.
