Recently we've been starting to see ABS lights coming on due to tone ring corrosion on the 2010 and newer buses with hydraulic brakes. We're finding out that replacing the tone rings isn't solving the issue. It seems that we're not getting the rings perfectly square with the hub and we ended up replacing the hubs the last 2 times in order to get the light to turn off. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Anyone know of a better solution than replacing the entire hub? Thanks in advance!
Here in the rust belt we too are having problems with the new tone rings. Since the ring has to be perfectly flat when reinstalled its almost impossible to do it when the whole hub has 1/8 of solid rust warping the ring. We did buy the Conmet tone ring installer which I think is mandatory to get them on without bending the ring. Also before removing the rotors I take a saw and cut the threads of the the rotor bolt off that are sticking out past the hub. If you just zip them out with an impact they will wipe out all the hub threads.
We are in the rust belt also,We clean the hub surface by hand and heat the ring with map gas and tap the ring on with a small dead blow hammer. reinstall the hub and set the bearing preload to IH specs and your good to go. not had one comeback.
