Just wanted to share a quick discovery that might come in handy for C2 people in the future. I had a 2015 C2 come in late Friday afternoon and while attempting to back into a parking spot the range inhibit light came on and as we all know, this bus wasn’t going anywhere. This is the second time this bus has done this (early last year it was in a bus loop @ school) and replacing the blown 20amp Radio/Diag fuse under the hood fixed the problem. This time the fuse was blown before I even had it fully inserted.
After searching the usual C2 wire harness rub spots and access freightliner wiring diagrams I still had nothing. When this fuse blows you lose the hydraulic brake backup power w/key off, the am/fm radio and most importantly brake lights, which caused the range inhibit. Anyways, after disassembling the top half of the dash to access all the wiring behind it, I found the culprit. A red wire in a bundled harness had rubbed into the metal frame on the back of the T-shifter handle causing the short.
