If the ECM is on the rightside (pasenger side) of the engine then it's built into the ECM, if not then the IDM is on the fire wall. Someone can correct if I'm wrong.
Are you gettind DTC code 525? If so there is a letter from IC on ISIS to replace all 8 injectors first. You could swap out IDM's first to verify. Either way it's not cheap but it would be better to replace only one cause and not both IDM and injectors. In my 10 years of working on 444's I have never had to replace the IDM.
I have a 98 that has had to have the ecm rebuilt twice. It's been a while so I don't know if anything has changed, but I had to send the ecm off and have it repaired, as IH didn't have new ones that can just be sold and reprogrammed.
Nothing like being down a truck for a week waiting for a computer programmer and a $1,000 bill to show up...
yes i believe the code was 525 that bus has been put on the back burner for now but all eight injectors where replaced a year ago so i dont think they would need to be changed again but will be workin on it soon
