Hey guys,

There is an 06' IC VT365 wheel chair bus at our shop that the glow plug system only works every now and again on. When the dash light "WAIT TO START" comes on it starts great, but sometimes it will not come on at all, and then the bus will not start. Right now the bus is parked at the depot and will not start.

They put a new glow plug relay on the valve cover, and the connections are good to it.

The glow plug wiring harnesses were replaced as well. There was originally a broken wire on the plug closest to the entrance door.

Any ideas on an "Intermittant glow plug system problem"?

Is there another relay some other place that may not be activating?

I would want to rule out the possibility that the ECM is not activating the glow plugs because it senses the engine is at or above operating temperature

Why yes, the ORIGinal CHARGER is a Fastback

Fastback, is the ECT sensor built into the ECM or is it located somewhere on the engine?

Thank you! Could you give me an idea on the actual location? The boys at the shop can't find which one it is, or where it actually is.

Thanks!

According to page #8 of the engine operation and maintenance manual 1171814R3, that should of came with the bus, the ECT sensor is on the drivers side front of engine.
Of course if there is a problem with sensor or wiring there would likly be other symptoms besides glow plug system not operating

Thanks for that info. I'll pass this along to our mechanics.
