I own a Bar in CT and would like to start doing trips from my bar to other bars/ casino trips... Do I need to apply for the DOT application for busing? Or can I just register my bus as service bus and be fine... Someone said I did not have to because its only transportation for my bar and not the entire public.... Keep in mind I will be Charging then a fee... Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks

Ditto's Bar/ Bohemian Pizza is a bar in Litchfield that owns an old Limousine that they provide some transportation with. Perhaps give them a call and speak with the owner about what their arrangements are with that. You might run into less red tape with the DMV and DOT running like Ditto's does rather than a bus. You would probably be able to pick up an old limo for fairly cheap and more of your patrons might want to ride in a limo rather than a bus.

If all your problems are behind you... you must be a school bus driver.

once you start charging passengers the rules change. For hire will require higher insurance and certainly DOT regulations. I'm not sure about CT rules but I would think DOT would be involved. There is a local bar around here in Richmond Va. that provides a service like you want to do and asks for donations.....maybe a loop hole? Good luck with your venture.
