I have a 2011 Maxxforce DT that sat without starting for about 10 weeks this summer. Towed it to the dealer and long story short, rusty injectors were found to be the problem. We have three other buses with the same engine that we had a hard time starting but they eventually fired up. Dealer says it is because water emulsifies in the fuel and with the bus sitting so long nature take its course. We have several hundred buses that sit all summer that have no problem . I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem all.

Just a thought are you running bio blend fuel? We have had stuff sit that long and no rust issue. Might be the next new headache on these maxxforce dt's.

Your not the only one. We have this problem on our 2012 MaxxForce's. If they sit all summer they are hell to get started. I'm not sure about the rusty injectors, but in Georgia everything diesel is a blend of bio.

If you can't handle the answer, don't ask the question

Did the dealer recommend any additives for extended storage?

How long do new buses sit at the factory or dealership? In some cases it has to be longer than 10 weeks. We got a small bus back in 08 that was a 05 chassis with a 08 bus body...

Interesting, all of our buses get moved at least once throughout the summer, probably because of things like this.

Luckily we only have one MF DT and three VT-365s in the fleet. Otherwise, a T444E, a few DT466Es, a couple 5.9s, a couple Duramaxes, and several 6.7s.
