A short Thomas C2 bus was rear-ended after a van driver on Clopper Road in Maryland crashed into the vehicle that was directly behind the bus, crushing the driver of that vehicle between the bus and the van. The bus appears to have subsequently been pushed forward into another vehicle, damaging the front end of the bus. Only minor injuries were suffered by the bus passengers.
This type of unexpected secondary collision is yet one more reason to always wear your seatbelt. I was riding a school bus several weeks ago, sitting in the second row, when the bus driver had to jam on the brakes. Why? A driver on the intersecting road was on the wrong side of the road when he began to turn left, and then continued to cut the corner and turned into the wrong side of the street that we were on, narrowly missing a head-on collision with my bus. Stay alert! |
