I have a 2000 International 444E The belt broke due to the Idler pulley had froze up. I bought a new pulley and went to install it and the bolt will not tighten. The old one was just resting there when I removed it. I'm thinking the thread wholes are stripped out. Is there a easy work around fix? There is not enough room to get in there with a drill and use a Helicoil re thread kit. (Pulley is on left lower side right above water filter).
I'm a driver not a mechanic LOL... (Owner/Operator)
The lower left idler pulley bolt should thread into the water pump casting, if the threads are indeed stripped, water pump could be removed and replaced or repaired.
Is there a work around besides pulling the water pump and replacing it? Tried cleaning the threads up with a tap. And still it won't bite down. Thanks for any replies.
