I'm trying to help a little district next to ours fix one of their buses. The bus has a power steering filter with a hole in it. Its a 2009 rear engine BlueBird, with a Cummins 8.3 ISC. The bus is parked 57 miles away, the driver says there is no name or number on the filter. She sent me pictures of the filter. Its a big spin on cartridge filter. The bus uses 5w30 for power steering fluid. The filter is located in the upper part of the passenger side of the engine compartment. Does anyone have a bus like this, and can you give me a possible filter number? I did try giving the body number to the local dealer but they haven't been able to find the filter in their records.

379 L6 8.3L 505 CID Cummins Turbo Diesel ISC calls for

WIX Power Steering Filter #57557

Is this the right? I just did a quick search on the WIX webpage.

That wasn't the right filter, its to small and not a sealed cartridge type filter.

Grab a filter spec catalog, (NAPA, Baldwin, whatever) and find it by type, gasket size, dimension, etc. With a little patience you will find it. I'm sure it's not uncommon. NAPA(Wix) has a huge range of filters and I have found quite a few by dimension over the years.

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

Try this link. I think you are describing the hydraulic system filter mounted up near the hydraulic reservoir. This is the Wix version but I'm sure you can cross reference with your preferred supplier.

The filter is either a Wix 51759 (if it's 6.872 inches tall) or a 57052 (if it's 10.66 inches tall.) We have six of those buses, and four have the short one and two have the tall one.
