Found that it is the crank case filter. According to our local dealer we have an open system and it does not have the filter anyway.

I thought open systems weren't allowed anymore thanks to the EPA? Maybe IC has a way around that.

the 2010 emission M7 engine has crankcase filter that should be serviced at 30k miles. It is located on the right valve cover. 1) is the draft tube 2) Crank case filter. All 2010 emmision Maxx 7 engines are open systems.

Title: Non-serviceable Crankcase Breather

Applies To: 2010 - 2012 EPA MaxxForce 7 Engines Bulit Before 7/12/2012 ESN: 5322747.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DESCRIPTION

The prior Serviceable Breather Assy. (1886483C93) was a filter media with a bypass and had a service interval requirement.

A new Non-serviceable Crankcase Breather Assy. (7085773C91) went into production in engines built after 7/12/2012 (ESN: 5322747) that replaces the Serviceable Breather Assy. (1886483C93).

The Non-Serviceable Breather will not become restricted and will provide acceptable performance throughout the life of the engine.
System Set-Up
1.Build Date Must be Prior to 7/12/2012 and ESN: 5322747.
2.Check top of crankcase breather cover for part # 7085773C91 to determine if breather has been updated to the new non-serviceable breather, part number location shown in picture above.
3.If no part number is found, replace Serviceable Breather with the new Non-Serviceable Breather Assembly (Part Number 7085773C91).
4.Verify the ECM has the Latest Calibration
5.Program the Engine with the Following Template (Non-Serviceable_Breather_Template)
6.If the template programmed successfully without any errors, then the programming is complete. If not, please contact Tech Services
