Bus Driver Allegedly Instructs Student To Strike Boy, 9
Monday March 5, 2012 1:45 PM
UPDATED: Monday March 5, 2012 1:48 PM
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police announced Monday that they charged a Columbus City Schools bus driver with contributing to the delinquency or unruliness of a child after she allegedly instructed a student to strike a young boy.

According to police, bus driver Brenda Abdul-Mateena was driving along Eakin and Salisbury Roads at about 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, when she allegedly stopped the bus and instructed a student to strike a 9-year-old boy.

When the victim lifted his hands to protect himself, Abdul-Mateena allegedly held his arms down and told the student to strike again, with more force.

It was not known if Abdul-Mateena was still driving for Columbus City Schools. Police did not immediately identify the school the students attended.

Columbus City Schools officials did not immediately comment on the case.

Columbus and the contractor that runs some of it's routes (the BIG one based in Ohio) have a real talent for finding these individuals.

Recent case in point, the driver that FS fired (at Columbus' request) was then hired BY COLUMBUS about a year later. Brilliant.

I wanted to update this story for future inquiries.

The driver died of natural causes before any legal action took place. I've heard of no pending litigation against the school district.
