VALPARAISO | The public defender representing 18-year-old Ashley Toney wasted little time Monday touching on one of the sensitive issues in this week's trial alleging abuse among students on a Portage school bus.

Teen convicted of terrorizing students on school bus
Staff report
August 20, 2010 Chicago Breaking News
An 18-year-old has been convicted of sexually assaulting two girls as he and two others terrorized students on a school bus in northwest Indiana.
Ashley Toney and two other teens were accused of repeatedly groping and threatening teen girls on a Portage school bus between November 2008 and February 2009.
Toney was convicted Thursday of exposing himself and repeatedly fondling two female students. He was taken into custody after the jury verdict.
Prosecutors said Toney led Joe Carnell and Charles McCloud-Smith in terrorizing the students. They agreed to plead guilty and testified against Toney in return for lesser penalties.
