Fund-raiser to help FPS bus driver who was burned
July 25, 2010 HomeTownLife.com
Julie Jarvis is always there for kids, whether she's driving a Farmington Public Schools bus, being a “lunch mom” at East Middle School or working in the Farmington Hills Parks and Recreation Division during the summer months as a counselor.
Now, Jarvis needs a little help from the community.
The single mother from Farmington is facing a long and painful recovery from burns she received in a freak accident last Saturday while attending a picnic. A citronella candle exploded near her face, burning her face, her hair, chest and arms.
The FPS Transportation Department is hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner to raise money for Jarvis while she's out of work.
All proceeds will go to the Julie Jarvis Burn Fund, which is set up at LOC Credit Union on Farmington Road, north of Nine Mile in Farmington, where cash donations are also being accepted.
