Um, that Gillig Phantom school bus isn't a 1997. Gillig wasn't building school buses in that year, because they stopped four years before that. That particular Gillig Phantom school bus was, IIRC, a late eighties model.

Other than that, good work!

I had the occasion to drive # 11 when I worked for Certified Transportation. It had a 300-horsepower Cummins 855 with a Jake Brake and a 5-spd. manual transmission. It would climb a hill with a load in 4th gear. That was always nice.

That was # 8, the bus I was actually assigned to after # 23. It was a 1982 Crown Supercoach with full air-ride ... The one with the chrome bumpers and window post caps, remember? I miss that one the most!

Why was that one nicknamed "Eileen"? I've always wondered since I first saw a picture of that bus years ago.

The driver who had it before I did nicknamed it "Eileen" [I-Lean] because the air bags on one side would deflate and cause it to lean (very noticeably, too).

I took this picture a good seven years ago. This is why we called it "Eileen."
