Add me to the list of those who like that old HO scale Ford. It appears to be a Blue Bird body! Thanks for sharing!! |

Are they California spec'd? I'd love to see that! |

| A few, but not all. On my HO Con-Cor/Herpas the stop sign is in the rear, but otherwise they are stock. I am having a few buses (2) customized that will be Ca speced...I will post my fleet pictures when I get those. |

| My Herpa/Con-Cors are the HO scale BB S series, and then the ones I am getting custom are a Blue Bird Bank (AARE) and a Sunnyside 9862 or something (CBC 3800). I also plan on customizing my FS65, but haven't gotten to that yet. |

| Nice!! You can probably tell I like FS65s with extended skirting/understorage from my signature. I actually considered trying to make that one, but didnt want to bother with the understorage. I plan on ordering another FS65 and modeling it after a 1987 Thomas S1700 that my district has, and then somehow change the hood to S series. Any suggestions on how to, anyone? Are there any truck models with the S series in the same size? |

| That's a hard one. I would have suggested buying the ebay one I posted a while ago. With the understorage thing, can anyone share how they do it? I would like to replica a thomas Realtoy/Siku with one. |

On the "S" series question, what size or scale are we talking? There were so truck kits "S" and I think some of the U-Haul trucks,I think "HO" were "S" series. On the truck kits you have to watch because I think the kits were like the real thing in that there are 2 different size front ends. The "S" 1700,1800 was one size while the heavyer 2600 was made a little different.
Just looked and there are some "S" series buses on e-bay, depending on what size you are after. |

Ok, thanks, I will check Ebay. The size isnt HO, it is about 1/50th scale (The size of the Siku/Realtoy FS65, and the promotional models (both IC and Thomas). Anyway, I dont know what you could do for understorage...On the FS65 it would have to be more realistic than an HO bus because of the size - for HO you could even use tagboard or something. |

Hi, on the luggage compartment it seems a hobby shop or such a place should have "modeling" plastic, flat sheets and perhaps some structural shapes, you seem to be very good at working with plastic so these sheet/shapes I would think you could build what you need. Another choice would be brass as it is used in models very often, but I am no expert about either one. |

I wanted to make the common one huge-sized luggage compartment that is spec'd on most Thomas's without the extended skirting. I just need to find a place with all that supplying.
The first bus I am working on is http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2312498270102706206WaEmPs I am almost done with it but I need suggestions for coloring around the warning lights and reflective tape.
The second bus I am working on is http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2814320370102706206OsWMoP I don't have a picture of it but I need the vynal to put over the windows becuase they are tinted, I need to add the black around the warning lights, and this bus is a full out reflective bus including SCHOOL BUS. If you look closely, it is the bus to the left and the right on the top photo. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2766381000102706206eqoFcy
P.S. If anyone has ideas for crossing arms, my whole fleet needs some. Thanks. |

| Hi, I dont know the scale/size of the ones you are working on, but as a thought for a crossing arm, because the actual size ones are not metal but instead they are fiberglass or such, how about a coffee stir stick painted yellow? |

| That is a good idea, but I need to figure out how to make the cross arm motor. (so it works) All my buses are in 1/53'rd scale. (app.) |

| Well you may want to look into the model RR areas for some thing small that would make it work, just a thought. Mike |

| Hi that is a nice looking bus. Does it have a metal or plastic body? I got 2 in today with the metal body, but it does not have the "bluebird" makings. I would like to get some for it as well as find some transfer lettering for it so I can make it match the full-soze ones here. |

| Plastic. And btw just so that everyone knows, it isnt California specd. It has a rear stop sign, but that is the only simularity. It would need: drivers side exit door; STOP WHEN RED LIGHTS FLASH on rear of the bus; high headroom; no black around warning lights. ETC ETC but those are the main ones. I would make an exit door...well, draw one, but I can't draw that small. |

Yup, then I got the same one as you Mike. Very neat replica. I also got two 1990 International Wayne Road Champs models that size and a 1995 Thomas Saf-T-Liner ER like that.

Yeah, that is basically Florida spec'd. I use the fine point sharpie to make the side door for my cousin's Anaheim buses. |

In this ~1/50 bus (Sunnyside 9852 diecast), a vibrator motor from a cellphone swings the stop arm. These are about 4mm in diameter and readily available from a broken phone, surplus, on eBay, etc.

Depends on your models, but I'd think you could transverse mount one under your hood with a lever to the crossing arm pivot. Here's a short 3 second video clip (~90kB) of the motorized stop arm action: http://home.att.net/~stan2004/motorized-stop-arm.wmv

| That is impressive, but I am not the person that can do electrical wiring. Also, I was trying to say that I wanted a hinge that would let the arm swing in and out. |

I just got three buses (for my birthday, last weekend) and am expecting three more. I got;
IC BE (custom lettered)

SS9852 (custom lettered)

And a Blue Bird Bank (custom lettered)

I made the window frames silver...
All very nice!!! The reason that they all are the same # is an error on my part, and I can easily fix that. I am expecting 3 HO scale Con/Cor WHS (white roof, like my Ca specd one) buses also. I also customized one of my Ford Waynes...

(Silver Grill/headlights, Silver window posts, Black door panels, Black/Silver Mirrors, Red 4 ways)
And my Thomas FS65

(Black posts/frames, Silver Headlights)
I plan on ordering a bunch of those Ford Waynes, and a few Herpa (yellow roof) HO scale buses. I am also considering another IC BE model, since I really like that one.
Fist Student Guy; did you ever get pics of the buses after you customized them? |

| Hi, I am very impressed with you modeling and collections. I found out today that they are retiring my bus from regular route service and I will be getting a new one for next year. SO my question???do they have a di-cast of the new type buses? It is an IH "FE300 MaxxForce". It is a very much different look as compared to our other buses, they are 06 models. Thanks for any help, Mike |

Mike, I know what you are talking about. You'll be getting a bus that looks like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/colephotography/462780495/in/photostream/ However, thats the 2005/06 model. If it has MaxxforceDT, it will probably be closer to 2007/08 model, tho. If its in that range, it will look pretty much like that bus instead the tailpipe will be in the bumper, and its rear will be litered with all these new required stickers KY requires. It would be instresting to see the new IC-FE in KY specs (the 2009 redesigned), personally i believe those buses aren't the most attractive from the outside.
But to awnser your question, no, International (or any other bus model companies) does not at the current time make anything simular to the IC-FE/ IC-RE design, except some Beanie Bag buses, but those really are not models.
Hope this helps -Jake (Formerly 92Ward) |

| Yes it is the one with the "stove pipe" through the back bumper as well as 2 sets of lettering. 1 is "we stop at RR crossings", the other is {an old friend to me} "STOP When Red Lights Flash". At the first chance I have I will take some photo's of it and add them here. Maybe someone will start making a miniture. It came in yesterday, so it is an 2008-09? It does look considerably different, Mike |
