Mine is a 2006 Blue Bird Vision, Cat C7, 71 pass, red seats, blue marble floor, black wall padding, hydrualic brakes, all red 8 ways, with the number 74 slapped on it, blah blah blah. That's pretty much it.

I am going to have to say the 90s BBAAREs. Automatic transmission, white roof, etc. As bored as I am with riding them for about 9 years, I will always remember these buses as my favorite.

With a 300hp engine, you'd want the Allison 3000PTS.

I'll always be a Carpenter fan! Growing up on these buses, I loved them. My favorite buses to drive were our mid 80's Internationals with the 9 liter diesel engine, 5 speed manual transmissions. Boy would these buses move! Our district had three of them. I also enjoyed driving our two Blue Bird CV200's. Cat engine, automatic transmission. I Liked the layout of the dash and the hazzard switch that flashes on these buses. I may add that they were the first bluebirds our district ever bought. Proud to say it was just beginning and now half the fleet is bluebird bodies.

Hmm, this is a tough one, but I'd guess I'd have to go for:

2003 Thomas International
DT466E, 230 HP
MD-3060
High Headroom
66 Passenger
Green Ceiling, Green Seats, Black Marble Floor
2 Transpec Hatches
4 Pushout Windows
Dual Stop Arms

Air Door, Jack Knife (Gotta love a Thomas jack knife!)
Black Hood
Alcoa Wheels

And if not the 2003, go back 10 years and give me a 1993 with a DTA360 and a MT-643 with similar specs.

1982 Wayne/International

65 passenger capacity
345 IHC Gasoline Engine
5-speed manual transmission
green interior
manually operated inward opening door
4 lamp exterior light monitor
back-up alarm

Normally I wouldn't even mention the light monitor or back-up alarm since the light monitor is required in Michigan and the back-up alarm has been standard for many years in our district however on those old buses there weren't many specs to mention. I spent nine years in that bus, more than any other bus I've driven. I didn't want to give it up but eventually they forced me to so they could put it on a longer route and increase it's mileage before it became a spare. Wayne's were truly loved by many in my district.

If you have an International, you NEED customer service.

Our lot is filled with nothing but Bluebirds on IC chassis. Recently, we've been getting IC standards.

My first route bus was a 1990 BB/IC with the 3800 engine and a 4 speed auto, hydraulic brakes. It had 178K miles. I only ran it up to 186K. It is now a spare, I drive it occasionally. Yes, it is a beast, and a long drive in it will ware you out. It was replaced by a 2004 model, with the updated 3800 & 5 speed auto, air brakes, air door, air seat & a *****'n stereo. Man, I could drive it all day and come out fresh as a daisy.

One of my all time favorite buses is a 1968 Chevrolet Superior. This bus was my first introduction to buses, the one that sparked the interest that never waned. It only grew. I was born in 1974 and my grandma had been driving this bus since 1969. The first year the district had this bus it was used as a spare and trip bus. My grandma parked her bus at her house throughout her driving career. During my childhood, her bus was my playground. It had light green seats with the metal backs Anyone remember those light green Superior seats? It also had a white switch with a red light in it used as the Master Warning Light switch as well as a red knob on top of the switch panel to activate the stop arm.

Mine is the 1983 Ward Ford I rode to school in.
diesel (what engines did Ford put in their diesels at that time?)
manual jackknife doors
manual transmission
air brakes
65 Passenger

As buses go, their buses were pretty bare-bones and still are to some extent.

I guess mine has to be my bus.

1989 Ford B700 chassis w/ 65 passenger Wayne body
This thing has nothing fancy, but...
185 hp 6.6L Brazilian diesel
AT545 (column shift, baby)
air brakes (classic LOUD Ford brakes)
manual jackknife door.

I've modified it pretty significantly since I purchased it. It now sports:
turned up injection pump (just a little though...don't want to torch that tranny)

dual fuel diesel and straight veggie oil

a couch

a fridge

a 27 inch TV

surround sound

XM radio

PS2

sink, 55 gallons freshwater, solar heated

portapotty in bathroom, complete with "leak your lizard" curtains

3 burner cooktop with an oven, propane powered

insulated floors

carpet in living room, bedroom carpet soon to be replaced with laminate flooring

4 bunks with 6'6" long matresses

My own personal bedroom in the back with a twin bed and sweet dreams curtains, soon to have combination desk/entertainment center/dresser

300 amp hours of battery power with twin 750 watt inverters and a shorepower connection, 12 volt UPS units on all sensitive electronics that are tied in to the house batteries.

171 watts of well placed fluorescent lighting-this thing lights up like the sun and hardly uses any battery power.

I'm sure I could think of more if I tried real hard, but that's enough for now.

1998 FORD /THOMAS Conventional (Front end or hood retrofitted with an 1993 FORD B700 piece, I just love that "square hood")

FORDSON 6.6, in line 6 cylinder engine (Very rare)
5 speed transmission.

Air brakes

I just love how air brakes sound on these old Fords.

The only thing I don't like about FORD Buses is how they stick with that old dash they carry over and over. ewwwww

Well it is a toss up between a 1991 Chevy Blue Bird or a 1998 GMC Blue Bird... so I guess I'll go with the newer one.

1998 GMC Blue Bird
GM 366 gasser
Allison AT545 tranny
Hydro brakes
5 spoke Dayton rims
Goodyear G149 fronts and G159 rears
60 gallon fuel tank mounted on framerail on pass. side
Standard suspension
Exhaust exits before rear wheels on drivers side
Front and rear tow hooks
Two batteries
Yellow grill and headlight bezels

Body:
65 passenger
Manual open-out door w/ vandal locks
Locking battery door and fuel door
4 piece windshield
Tinted windows sides and rear
Storm glass on front passenger windows, entrance door, and drivers window
Window Stop Lines
Aluminized interior panels below windows
1 Transpec Model 1600 roof vent w/ power fan
2 emergency pushout windows
Dual row dome lights on 3 switches plus drivers dome
Armored clearance/cluster lamps
7" rear stop/tail lights
5" backup lights
Turn signals under windshield
Visors over warning light w/ black shadow under visors
Low profile strobe light
Panasonic AM/FM/CD/PA system with 8 speakers
3 aux. defrost fans
Stepwell heater, driver heater, LH midship heater, LH rear heaters
12 volt power outlet
All exterior mirrors heated
Crossview mirrors converted to lower, post-2000 mounts
6 way pedestal Bostrom drivers seat w/ fabric insert
Brown seats w/ brown frames, 28' DOT highbacks
Shoulder pads
Tan marble floor w/ metal aisle trim
Tan ceiling
Dual windshield wiper switches
Transpec Model 4000 Double Pole with Extrusion crossing arm
Front and rear mudflaps with Blue Bird logo
3M diamond grade full reflective tape package

And I think thats about it I'll have a close to accurate picture of it soon. And maybe someday I'll do the specs for the '91

I don't think the CAT C7 comes in 300 hp... At least for school buses anyways.

The All American RE is indeed available with the 300hp C7. http://blue-bird.com/brochures/all_am_re_cat.pdf

Probably the year 2000s Thomas Freightliners

Blue seats
Black floor
White roof
Dual strobing stop arms
Black rub rails
Air door
Air ride drivers seat
Air brakes
Crossing arm
Automatic tranny
Yellow rims
Push button tranny
77 Pax
6 pushout windows
Emergency exit door in the back
Tinted windows
NO warning light covers
2 roof hatches

And that's it....I think.

My most favorite bus that has been ever built is the Thomas FS65 with a 210hp MBE (Mercedes), push button Allison Trannie, air, brakes with air ride. I am currently driving a 2001. But my 2006 (the last year made) was the best. Still trying to get used to the C2's.
