Time for more of our favorite thing...VIRTUAL DIAGNOSTICS!!!!

Here's what I've got today:

Have a Jasper DT466E in a 2000, engine has about 30,000 miles on it. We got the running complete unit...meaning it had everything it needed to drop in the frame and go, minus the bolt-on accessories.

Problem lies in cold starting. Even when it's 70 degrees outside, the thing still coughs and sputters and blows white smoke until it gets a little warm.

For what it's worth, I've always thought that the fuel system didn't sound quite right. I guess the best description I can give is this...imagine that fluid-like chatter of the injectors, only more course.

Any ideas on thing we can check or try?

Check the fuel supply pressure and the injection control pressure.

I hope the valve timing isn't off.

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

Forgive my lack of experience with this engine...are these pressures checked with a manual gauge or would the ECM be able to give this info?

Supply pressure is checked at the Schrader valve with a standard pressure gauge. 50-60 psi should register. If not, remove and inspect the rubber check valve above the 'rock catcher'.

ICP will display on the MDFleet program.

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
