Yeah, you can adjust the valve lash on those. The specs for both intake and axhaust should be on the engine ID decal on the valve cover (if it's still there). Sorry that I don't recall the measurements or interval.
Also...can anybody remind me of the torque spec for the valve cover...I remember it wasn't very much and if you overtighten expect an oil leak! |

I've got a picture of the valve cover on a DT360 and it says .025". I'll have to see if I can find mine. |

Valve lash on all pre-4 valve DT 466s is .025
With No.1 piston at TDC compression, you can adjust the intake valves on #1,2 and 4, and the exhaust valves of #1,3 and 5.
Rotate the engine one revolution to bring #6 to TDC and adjust the intake of #3,5 and 6 and the exhaust of #2,4 and 6. |
If it doesn't fit, FORCE it. If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway. Pullin' wrenches for 45 years. |

Thanks all! I'll let you know how it goes. May have to wait until the spring as it looks like winter may finally be here. |

Nothing like reviving a dead topic!
I need to see if anyone has the torque spec for the valve cover bolts. Like I said years ago, I remember it wasn't much and too much ends with leaking.
Thought I was done with the old DT's, but now one has re-entered my life (I am not complaining). |
