This topic is for the oddball buses in your fleet like- one of a kinds, certain specs this bus has that others don't,etc.

Our fleet's oddballs are:

17- Only 2005 in our fleet, a BB All American FE
26- only 1997 in the fleet, a TC/2000 FE, only bus w/ luggage on both sides
27- Only 1999 in the fleet, a TC/2000 FE, newest bus made at BB Midwest we have
29- a 2001 along with 10 and 22, but however ths bus came in all by itself and has the ID 105XX like the 2000's-13,14,16,28 but the 2000's ID's are about 50 lower
30- Only Carpenter in the fleet, only non-blue bird bus in the fleet, only conventional, and only bus to have 48 passenger capacity
31- just recieved yesterday (used), only bus to have crossing gate (we might remove it from the bus), only bus made at Blue Bird East (Buena Vista, Virginia), and last but not least only bus to have white top that was made before the 2004 model year

We have many oddballs. Here are a few notable ones:

Bus 179 -- Only 2000 AmTran FE in fleet
Bus 801 -- Only 1992 BB TC/2000 FE in fleet
Bus 379 -- Only 1989 BB TC/2000 FE in fleet

As for buses with certain specs that others don't have, that list goes on for miles.

GMC BB (now a spare bus, # 85) looks like from early 90's to late 80's, was a Laidlaw bus.

The 1991 Ward Patriot that we had while I was in High School was definitely an oddball. It replaced with a Ward Senator -- yet another oddball in a bus yard full of Blue Birds and Crown Supercoaches.

Unfortunately, the Crown Supercoaches seem to be the oddballs now.

Hey 1629...don't forget 1424....a FULL-SIZED Genesis FE. There's
only one (or maybe 2)...I heard International gave it/them to us to replace a bus(es) that burned up.

Three odd balls:
#31-2007 Thomas C2
#56-2006 Thomas C2-Alcoa Chrome Wheels
#56-2007 Thomas C2-Alcoa Chrome Wheels
The Final Thomases in our fleet.
The actual oddball is:
#29-1990s Carpenter Chevrolet-Retired
This was the only Carpenter that the district ever owned. They stopped mini buses because there are about 5-7,000 students.

We have what looks like a Demo bus, a 1994 BB TC2000 FE, the only older bus with AM/FM radio, and strobe light (I believe neither work...) and it also has a driver side emergency door. We used to have a 1990 TC2000 FE with AC that was the only one of that age with white roof. It is now retired. Finally, the only RE Special ed bus in our fleet is a 1990 TC 2000.

We have (1) 1996 Thomas International 29 passenger that was the only one of its kind purchased by the district. We also have (3) 1993 Thomas ERs during a year we purchased nothing but conventionals.

We have a 1989 IHC (old style S-1700) Ward Short that was repainted and got a white roof.
Odd considering we still use it, and we have a fleet of 1991+ IHC buses.
We also got a couple Amtran/ Ford (1996) that stand out in our IHC Line up.
We used to have a 1993 Ford AmTran, listed as a 1988 for some reason. (yes, i confirmed it WAS AmTran). It was retired with the 88 Ford Waynes, and used for parts

We have a 1994 Carpenter-Ford B800 which was a real oddity because the fleet was becoming all International by 1992 with the few GMC/Chevy's that were left. Then in 1997 we got 2 Thomas/B800s and then later that year we got a Thomas/3800 which doens't meet our spec's at all. Also we have one 41pax bus, a lift bus and as soon as the C2 arrives it'll be an oddity. Plus the rebuilt 1980IHC/94CarpenterBody.

Lemme think...for Chesterfield County, our oddballs are:
1) Some Bluebird Freightliner. I remember it went by my house some; thought it was a mutated Amtran (but I didn't know better at the time, lol)
2) Our Bluebird Visions. They are for SpecEd routes
3) Our 2006 Thomas EF's. They have a REI BusWatch camera and a large strobe on the top of the bus, instead of the small one. However, I think that is how all our new Thomases are going to be, plus anymore EF's we get.
4) This small 2000 Thomas EF we have for SpecEd routes. I think it was the "dummy bus'(as in it was our demo bus, so we can buy EF's later on. It's the oldest EF in the fleet.), as we don't have any other SpecEd EF's but a big slew of 78 passenger EFs.
5) Our Thomas International conventionals.
6) Our Thomas GMC conventionals.

We have an odd ball BlueBird, But I have no idea what the name of it is. I'm not sure if it's a Blue Bird Vista, Blue Bird GMC, BlueBird Freightliner, International, It's just a BlueBird.

If you look at it at the first glance, it sort of looks like the Blue Bird All American Rear Engine, because the paint and size are similar, but that's IT! The bus is a conventional. I drove it for a minute and it's the only one like it in our yard and it is really cute!
It just came to our yard.

We have two oddballs, Blue Birds in a fleet of Thomas Builts. They are 2005 models mounted on the dated International 3800 chassis, with 48 passenger bodies and wheel chair lifts. These are the first buses we have to feature the gray cieling and blue seats (instead of all gray or all blue) but this has been a staple on every bus since. These Blue Birds also do not have white roofs like every other bus from 1999 - 2007.

#12--a 1988 Blue Bird Ford. Our last remaining gas bus. Actually, it was the last gas bus my district purchased. Also the only Blue Bird we purchased.
www.busman49.com/Highland12.html

#45--a 1990 Ward International. The only Ward we purchased.

Due to the current economic condition, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off until further notice.

Baltimore County Public Schools - Odd Buses in Fleet:

5114-5116: 1995 - Thomas International's - Tinted glass, Black window frames, outside pa system, side emergency door (all specs never seen before on BCPS buses, these buses were purchased quickly as to replace a contractor BCPS used that's service became unavailable)

5551-5554: - IC CE's - Full size buses with WheelChair Lifts (never had these before, they were bought for field trips)

5587-5590: 2005 - Thomas Freightliner's - Full size buses with WheelChair Lifts (just like 5551-5554, they were bought for field trips)

Wow, we used to have so many more oddball buses, these days the fleet seems so boring. hahaha.

We have another odd ball in our fleet bus 97-140. Its a 1997 BlueBird Chevy Conventional with International engine, Hydraulic Brakes and a HYDRAULIC door (It has to be hydraulic because anytime the driver would release the "parking brake" while the door was moving it would quit)

I was driving in a town not far from me and saw a newer looking Blue Bird International and low and behold it was a Palm Beach County District bus. The last Palm Beach Blue Bird conventionals that I knew of were 1990 or 1991 models and this was obviously much newer than that. Figures I didn't catch the bus number though

My district's buses are provided by about 20-30 different contractors so there is some variety.
The odd balls are:
1. 2004/05 BB International 72pass with a T444E, 7spd manual and Alcoa Aluminum wheels
2. 2002 BB International 72pass with a DT466E, 7spd manual
3. 2000 BB Chevy CV200 72pass with a gas engine and a 5&2speed manual
4. 2001 IC CE 72pass with the top of the hood painted black (only black hood in the district)
5. 2007 Thomas C2 81pass with a white roof (the only white roof in the district)
6. 2002 Thomas EF 84pass (the only type-D bus in the district)
