DUBAI, United Arab Emirates —  The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education and Emirates Transport have launched the first phase of school buses that will be used to transport students with special needs, Gulf News reports.

The first phase consisted of 50 buses that officials said are outfitted with the latest equipment and in line with international standards for the safety and comfort of special-needs students during their rides to and from school. These efforts are part of a special-needs children integration project that the ministry is working on.

Mohammad Al Jarman, general manager of Emirates Transport, told Gulf News that out of the 50 buses, nine will serve students in Dubai, and they are equipped with an advanced boarding mechanism for the students.
