WASHINGTON, D.C. — A bus aide has been charged with second-degree cruelty to a child after she allegedly left a 3-year-old autistic boy on the school bus, News4 reports.

Quiana Greene was recently arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred in November, and she pled not guilty.

The boy was picked up at his home in the morning for the ride to his elementary school. Greene told investigators that once the bus arrived at the school, a staff member boarded the bus and called out the names of the students who needed to get off. Greene said the staff member never called out the 3-year-old's name, and she assumed the bus was empty. The boy was discovered at 2 p.m. that day when Greene boarded the bus and heard someone call out, according to News4.
