BURTON, Mich. — Police said a special-needs student who passed away after he stopped breathing on his school bus appears to have died from complications from cerebral palsy, according to a story on mlive.com.
In the afternoon on April 15, police were called to the student’s home after the bus driver called 911. Police Lt. Mike Odette told the news outlet that aides noticed a problem when they were trying to get him off of the bus and into his residence. A police officer attempted to perform CPR on the boy until emergency medical personnel arrived. He was then transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Genesee Intermediate School District spokesman Jerry Johnson said two transportation aides and another student were on the bus at the time of the incident.
