SANFORD, Fla. — Six special-needs students were uninjured after their school bus driver ran a red light and crashed the bus into a power pole last month, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Officials for the Florida Highway Patrol told the newspaper that Jack Timmel sped through the light and sideswiped a Nissan minivan before veering to the right and crashing into a concrete wall and the light pole.
The accident caused power outages in the area and temporarily closed a road in both directions. Timmel was cited for running the red light; it was the second time in the year that he’d been ticketed for the offense at that intersection.
