BEAUFORT, N.C. — A woman was arrested recently for vandalizing seven Carteret County Public Schools buses and then stealing one of them, according to a story on wcti12.com.

Police told the news source that Jillian Tetterton showed up at Morehead City Primary School intoxicated early one morning in late October, and the district’s superintendent said the buses were later found vandalized — the doors were pried open, fire extinguisher foam had been sprayed and the contents of the buses were thrown everywhere. Police also said that Tetteron found a hidden key in a bus for special-needs students and drove the bus to a friend's house with plans to take it to California.

The friend’s husband then called police. Tetterton was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, eight charges of breaking and entering in a motor vehicle, five counts of damage to property and DWI.
