PHOENIX A man pointed a loaded hand gun at a bus carrying 10 special-needs students from Palm Lane Elementary on Dec. 1. The bus driver and an assistant on board immediately called 911.

Amanda Mojica-Holmes, 19, took the holstered handgun from her purse and gave it to David Rubio, 21, as the school bus passed the spot where they and another woman were standing. There was no exchange of words or any other indications of a confrontation between Rubio and someone on the bus, KPHO reports. The gun was aimed at the driver's side of the vehicle.

Police apprehended the group a short distance away. Due to previous legal problems, Rubio was not supposed to be in possession of a firearm.

Rubio faces one count of weapons misconduct and 12 counts of aggravated assault. Mojica-Holmes has been charged with hindering prosecution.
