BENSALEM, Pa. — A 16-year-old girl was crossing an intersection in an attempt to board her school bus here Wednesday morning when she was fatally struck by a car, according to the Bensalem Police Department. Police are investigating the incident.

As the girl was crossing from the north side of the intersection in the crosswalk, she was struck by a 1984 Ford Bronco II that was traveling westbound. The investigation has revealed that the Bensalem Township School District bus was stationary (eastbound) at the time of the accident, with its stop arm and red lights activated.

The student was treated on the scene and taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to the police department.

The driver of the striking vehicle stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
