JONESBORO, Ga. — WFMY News2 reports a father was arrested after he allegedly blocked a Clayton County Public Schools bus driver from closing the door so she couldn’t finish her route because he is upset that some students have to sit on the floor in the school bus due to overcrowding.
Carlos Davis is charged with disrupting public schools operation. The confrontation tied up traffic for 45 minutes and delayed getting students home, according to the news outlet.
Vicki Constantinides, a spokeswoman for Clayton County Public Schools, told WFMY News2 the district has nearly 2,000 more elementary school students riding the bus this year compared with last year. While state rules allow districts to seat buses at 120% capacity, she added, this is a temporary situation. The district told the news outlet it is adding more buses to reduce the number of children on each one and is searching for about two dozen more drivers.
