WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, N.Y. — According to the New York City Fire Department  and the New York City Department of Education, a sinkhole swallowed the back wheel of a school bus carrying 11 children and four adults, DNAinfo New York reports.

The students, who were being transferred to two different schools, were on the vehicle for more than one hour before being transferred to a second bus. Fire department officials told the news outlet that no one was injured in the incident.

An area resident told the news outlet that the sinkhole, one of several in the street, had been there for weeks.
