FISHERS, Ind. — Following requests from his colleagues in the pupil transportation community, Hamilton Southeastern School District bus driver Greg Beaverson has created a version of his “School Bus CDL Pre-Trip Inspection” DVD for conventional buses.

As SBF reported in 2011, Beaverson’s first DVD covers the steps for a pre-trip inspection of a transit-style school bus to prepare for the test to earn a CDL. In the DVD, Beaverson conducts a pre-trip inspection on a transit-style school bus, beginning with the outside and then moving to the inside.

With both the inside and the outside, the process is broken down into several mini chapters that can be selected from the DVD menu, including “Front of the Bus,” “Driver Side Front,” “Front Wheel Well Area,” “Passenger Side of the Bus,” “The Rear Wheel Area,” “The Engine Compartment” and “Four-Point Brake Check.”

Beaverson’s new DVD for pre-trip inspection of a conventional school bus in preparation for the test to earn a CDL is also called “School Bus CDL Pre-Trip Inspection,” and as he did with the previous DVD, Beaverson conducts a pre-trip inspection, beginning with the outside of the bus and then moving to the inside.

The process is broken down into several chapters that can be selected from the DVD menu. The exterior portion of the pre-trip inspection is broken down into nine categories: “Front of Bus,” “Driver’s Side, Front,” “Engine Compartment and Front End,” “Front Wheel and Tire Area,” “Driver’s Side, Main,” “Rear Wheel and Tire Area,” “Driver’s Side, Back,” “Rear of Bus” and “Passenger Side, Main.”

The interior portion of the pre-trip is broken down into three categories: “Entry and Main,” “Switches” and “Four-Point Brake Check.”

Both versions of “School Bus CDL Pre-Trip Inspection” are available to purchase through Beaverson’s website, jclistudios.com. The conventional bus version is $29.95, and the transit bus version is also $29.95.

Anyone with questions about the DVDs may contact Beaverson through the “Contact Us” page on his website.
