The Kansas State Department of Education's (KSDE) latest national survey of school bus danger zone fatalities is now available to download.

As previously reported, the survey found that nine children were killed in school bus loading and unloading accidents in the U.S. in the 2011-12 school year. The majority of the fatalities — six of the nine — were caused by a vehicle passing the bus.

The full 2011-12 report is now available as a PDF on the KSDE website. To download it, click here.

The KSDE School Bus Safety Education Unit, which compiles the annual survey, noted that it is no longer mailing out print copies due to the costs involved.
