CYPRESS, Texas — A former school bus driver for Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District tested positive for cocaine after she nearly crashed her bus into a house last month, the Cypress Creek Mirror reports.

Catherine Daffin, 47, was charged with child endangerment and could face more charges, according to police. A district spokesperson told the news source that Daffin was placed on leave immediately after the crash and has not worked for the district for several weeks.

Daffin lost control of a bus filled with elementary school students and hit two mailboxes, drove over a median and crashed into a tree. She claimed that the bus continued to accelerate and jumped a curb as she applied the brake, but an investigation found that mechanical errors did not contribute to the crash.
