LOS LUNAS, N.M. — Police discovered an abandoned backpack filled with Molotov cocktails at a high school bus stop here last week.

Lt. Naithan Gurule told KRQE that a sergeant was conducting routine patrols when he spotted the backpack at around 4 a.m. The bus stop is located less than half a mile from a local middle school.

Los Lunas fire inspector Zack Romero confirmed the devices inside the backpack (two bottles filled with liquid with rags coming out of the tops) were Molotov cocktails, and the entire backpack was sent to a crime lab in Las Cruces, N.M.

Investigators are looking at security tapes from cameras on school buses to see if they can spot any students with the backpack, but police told the news source that they don’t currently have any leads to possible suspects.
