By Cheryl Wolf

There is a movement across our nation to eradicate bullying.

School Bus Safety Co. has taken the very complex issue of bullying on the school bus and created a comprehensive training program for school bus drivers, titled Bullying Prevention on the School Bus.

Cheryl Wolf is a special-needs transportation specialist with nearly 30 years of experience in the school bus industry. She can be reached at [email protected] or (765) 426-9747.

The program goals are to help drivers recognize the signs of bullying and what to do about it and how to prevent it in the first place.

The program includes three instructional DVDs that help train drivers to 1) recognize bullying, 2) stop bullying on the school bus and 3) identify effective ways to deal with bullying situations. The suggested discussion questions provide the catalyst for in-depth conversations about the drivers’ own experience with bullying on their school buses.

The driver’s job aid is a quick reference guide that drivers can keep on their bus along with the “Written Notification of Bullying Issues” form. In this material, is a script that drivers can use when talking to their students about having a bullying-free environment on the school bus.

The trainer’s guide is user-friendly and gives clear and concise ways to teach this program. It can be taught in a total of two hours or broken down into segments. This training should be mandatory for all new drivers and should be used as a refresher course for all drivers at the beginning of the school year.

Bullying Prevention on the School Bus is a high quality training resource that would complement school district training programs across the nation. It is a great resource to help drivers prevent bullying and teasing on the school bus and make a difference in the lives of the children who ride the school bus every day.

$950?? Seems a bit much for a stop bullying program.
