HOLT, Mich. — A Holt Public Schools bus driver who crashed her bus into a garage last month was not wearing a seat belt at the time, which contributed to the accident, according to the traffic report.

Eileen Marie Delaney was not wearing a seat belt and fell from her seat into the entrance well of the bus while making a left turn, according to an Ingham County Sheriff's Office deputy who reviewed the video tape on board the bus, the Lansing State Journal reports. An internal school investigation found the accident to be the result of "driver error."

Delany — who suffered minor injuries — struck a garage owned by Tim Monroe, damaging a 1953 antique wrecker and a utility trailer. No students were on the bus at the time of the crash.

Delaney received a ticket for not wearing her seat belt. She has elected to retire from the school district, according to district officials.
