ANAHEIM, Calif. — NavStar Technologies Inc., a firm focused on developing and commercializing asset tracking and monitoring devices for vehicles, announced the completion of an agreement for sales, marketing and distribution of NavStar products and services into the school bus industry with a specific focus on safety.

NavStar has engaged Westar Capital II LLC to assist in leveraging its existing relationships in the public transportation industry to provide equipment, software and related services to the school bus segment. The product/service concept is to provide hardware and software services that are able to spot and record any potential threats both inside and outside of the vehicle.

Dick Wray, managing member, Westar Capital II, stated, "We are pleased to be partnering with NavStar as they launch their tacking/monitoring hardware and software services into the school bus industry. We have been discussing this opportunity for some time and are pleased that NavStar has included this market segment in their 2010 marketing and sales focus. According to the study we've seen, each year, 475,000 school buses transport 25 million children to and from schools and school-related activities so the opportunity for a cost-effective hardware and services solution is significant."

"With the recent increase and public awareness of the importance of safety related to school buses there is a real need to leverage wireless/GPS technology to help reduce the serious problems of stop-arm violations, inappropriate behavior on school buses, and the risk to children in the 'danger zone' while boarding and exiting school buses," said N. Douglas Pritt, chairman and CEO, NavStar Technologies Inc. "Each year, school buses provide an estimated 10 billion student trips in the U.S., so the school bus industry represents a huge opportunity to sell tracking/monitoring and a variety of software services. Our goal is to work closely with Westar on a coordinated plan to implement new safety programs that will improve safety, making a difference in the lives of many children and their families."
