Compact DVR system provides economical option

247Security introduced its mDVR600 series at the trade show, aimed at providing a simple, rugged and economical option to replace VHS. Designed to provide the technology and premium features normally found on high-end DVRs, the mDVR602 features solid state memory, with no moving parts or hard drive. The product is GPS-enabled to work with 247Security’s MiniTRACK application, which allows users to review the path of the bus, speeding, idling and stops. The recorder itself is small enough to install in the radio compartment and does not have a ventilation fan, preventing dust build-up. No extra office hardware or software is needed for playback and optional built-in WiFi allows users to connect with the company’s HandsFREE wireless data transfer application. The unit also features input sensors for lights, brakes and doors.

Activity seat accommodates smaller passengers

M2K gave a preview for trade show attendees of a new model that the company has in the works. The activity seat features an integrated child seat/flex seat for children 65 lbs. and under, which folds out and allows them to sit taller so the bus driver can see them and they can see over taller seatbacks. Company officials say they are still testing the concept. The seat is modular, with the same basic structure underneath as other M2K seat models.

LED warning lights offer increased off-angle visibility

SoundOff Signal introduced its 7-inch round RD Series of LED warning lights. The lights have a low amp draw, but an eight-way warning light system delivers high-intensity light with specially designed inner optics that increase off-angle visibility to boost safety. Reinforced metal screw bosses prevent the lens from cracking due to over-tightening of the screws during installation, while an affixed neoprene gasket creates a tight seal when installed to prevent rusting and water damage to the bus. The lights can operate in two modes: Mode one is a steady burn, and mode two is a strobing flash. The lights are available in red and amber. Their UV-stabilized lens prevents fading from the sun.

Heater warms bus while reducing fuel consumption, emissions

Heater warms bus while reducing fuel consumption, emissions
The Proheat X45 auxiliary coolant heater becomes part of a school bus heating system, supplying added heat for passengers while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. An integrated pump circulates heated coolant to warm the engine block, making start-up easier and reducing start-up engine wear. The heater features an onboard control panel that displays heating status, while an optional digital timer for inside the bus offers timer-based starting of the heater. Proheat X45 complies with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards to ensure bus passenger safety.

Transfinder launches browser-based maintenance system

Transfinder unveiled its first browser-based fleet maintenance system at the trade show. ServiceFinder can be accessed through any computer with an Internet connection. After logging in, users view the dashboard, where they can track maintenance schedules, alerts, work orders, inventory and “Vehicle Quick Access,” which can drill down to show complete vehicle history. In addition, PDFs and Microsoft Word or Excel documents such as parts lists and diagrams can be attached to vehicle profiles. The company plans to add functionality with additional modules, including TripFinder, Transfinder’s activity trip program, and RouteFinder, its routing software. Eventually, all Transfinder services will be integrated and released on a Web-accessible platform, officials say.
