CLEVELAND — The School Bus Safety Co. has completed the development of its fourth instruction module: the OSHA Compliance Toolkit for school bus technicians and drivers.

The OSHA Compliance Toolkit is a single-source management tool designed specifically for school bus operations. Used properly, it will help managers quickly and easily achieve compliance with OSHA regulations, according to the company.

The toolkit also provides education and training materials addressing 22 OSHA standards that apply to maintenance facilities and three that apply to drivers.

Topics covered include emergency response plans, hazards communication, fire protection, fuel islands, welding and bloodborne pathogens.

"The Process Guide includes action plans and checklists with step-by-step instructions detailing what you must do to be in compliance," said Jeff Cassell, president of the School Bus Safety Co. "Simply put, if you follow every action plan and document every action step, you'll be in compliance."

Cassell noted that school districts in some states are exempt from complying with federal regulations. "However, 33 states have similar rules, and I think ... the technicians and drivers in every school bus operation deserve the same high level of safety whether it is required or not."

The completion of the OSHA Compliance Toolkit follows the release of the company's Driver Training Course, which officials say is now in place at more than 650 school districts. Transporting Students With Special Needs and Bullying Prevention on the School Bus were released earlier this year and are being used across the country as well.

The OSHA Compliance Toolkit costs $1,450. For more information, call (866) 275-7272.
